Absolutely amazing selection and great customer service. The woman that helped us was the owner I believe. My sister came to Key West when she was 17 and bought a beautiful shipwreck coin necklace from them and she just brought me (her little brother) to Key West at age 17 and I got my own. The owner was so kind and genuine and I would recommend the store to anyone. I will be back!
Very nice lady owns it. You can't really put a price on something as finite and precious as jewelry or coins found aboard a sunken ship. Definitely worth checking out this place, and for those on a budget she offers jewelry made out of bars of authentic Atocha found silver.
We were cheated. My wife really wanted a coin from the Atocha find by Mel Fisher. This shop is supposedly owned by his attorney. We bought a grade 2, 4 reale coin from the Potosi mint, with a mount for $4,626.00, only to be told by the people at the Mel Fisher Museum that we overpaid by almost $2000. WE GOT RIPPED OFF. The store policy does not allow refunds so we are really stuck with this and feel like we have been robbed. One of the Key West Treasure Chest employees, whose name we will not mention, agreed with us about being overcharged.
If you want a coin from one of Fisher's salvage operations check them out at the Mel Fisher Museum and also check eBay (make sure these coins have a valid certificate of authenticity) before you buy. Don't get cheated the way we did.
