We LOVE staying here. My most highly recommended place to camp in the Keys!! We have been staying at Blue Water Key every year for at least 10 years. We normall stay on site #69 and it is beautiful. Canal sites and bay front sites are available. Each site has a private dock and some sort of nice "tiki hut". Most have outdoor cooking or prep areas, fridges, TVs, chairs, couches, etc. Sites are well manicured, most have concrete pads to park on, nice and level. Individual sites seem nice and secluded so privacy is nice. Host are VERY helpful.
This was our second time staying here and we would stay again for the view, location and some of the amenities. Previous reviews are accurate about the quality of the sites, the helpfulness of the staff and the views on the bayside.
They have recovered very well from Hurricane Irma and kudos are due to the staff.
That said, having visited other “luxury” RV Resorts since our first visit here in 2014, we noticed a couple of things that comparatively, were disappointments:
The other noticeable difference is that since the sites are all owned privately and many are rented, as renters, we did not feel as welcomed by the owners on site as we have in similar owner resorts. Relatively, Bluewater has a smaller number of sites so the owners seem to know who’s just visiting. Minor item, but it stood out.
The poor condition of the one and only bathhouse knocked off a star.
The bathhouse is sorely in need of refurbishing. It is old and small and while probably cleaned regularly, doesn’t feel that way. Hurricane refurbishment expenses aside, for what they charge, the owners and management need to step up and put some capital into this important amenity.
So fun! We stayed for almost one week in a Platinum spot - and although the full timers and spot owners weren't honestly that friendly - the park itself was incredible and the staff was great. The enclosed tiki area had a kitchen, TV and lots of seating. Every night we would sit at our private dock and watch the fish swim below. We left a week before the hurricane hit, and according to the NOAA photos I've been seeing the park took quite a hit - but is recovering well. If you have a chance to drive out to the Marathon area and stay in Bluewater Key RV resort, you will not regret it. Oh, and rent a jet ski while you're there!
My favorite place to stay in the Keys. Have stayed many times and never had a problem. People very friendly and very quiet resort. Pool is great and waterfront sites are beautiful. I like the sites with the covered Tikis for those windy days. New website makes it easy to book. Pictures are from lot 65
Unbelievable sites right on the water. Rita and her team are super easy to work with and really try to make sure you have a wonderful stay. No where else better to stay in the Florida Keys!
