Very poor Doctors...Especially this Dr. Bond he's dismissive...acts like you're bothering him...if he was in a Private Practice setting....he'd go bankrupt with no patients ! Unless you just need an Aspirin...you're SCREWED... Their response is go to Miami !!!
Absolutely the worse VA location I've been to. I've seen the administration staff sit down doing nothing while the phones were ringing off the hook and patients were waiting to be seen. They never answer the phone and they never return a call. The medical staff is on point but the problem is that you simply can't get to them. The VA administration needs to clean house here. Every administrative person should be fired and replaced immediately!
I am grateful for the VA and their care. People should learn to be less quick to complain. My experience is always great and always has been, sure things aren't always perfect, but I have interacted with family and friends in private practice and I can sure tell you they don't have it better.
My husband has multiple, chronic health issues, requiring constant monitoring. We have NEVER had anything but excellent care from this clinic, starting with the clerks as you enter the complex.
May I respectfully suggest to those of you who demean this clinic, that you LEARN how to correctly access the care available for you. There is a protocol in place to serve the needs of ALL patients. Arriving here in a crises is NOT in your best interests, and WILL probably result in you being advised to go to the nearest emergency room or to Miami.
It has been almost 4 yrs since we moved to Key West, we have had numerous hospitalizations, and endless followups...still ongoing, but this I know, my husband would NOT be alive today, we're it not for the care provided by the Key West V.A. Clinic and the Miami V.A. Hospital.
Great place, super clean, awesome staff, we are all very lucky to have them. Keep up the good work!
Dr. Bond is diligent, kind and patient with both my husband and myself. He hand writes all changes in medications and explains why they are being added or withdrawn AND follows up through the Nurse and Pharmacist.
Our trips to Miami V.A. for specialized treatment, and hospitalizations, have always gone smoothly, thanks to our KW Clinic setting everything up for us.
You're living in the Florida Keys, so I am guessing that's by choice, be grateful a clinic is here at all, let alone this one which is pretty darn good. I am polite and have a good attitude, perhaps that plays a role in their being the same?
It is impossible to contact the Clinic by phone. The administrative staff is not interested in answering calls, only in maybe replying to your voice mail message. The administrative staff is slow in making appointments and in processing referrals. You, the Patient, will have to follow up on everything. Unfortunately, this means having to visit the clinic to make sure all is well as the administrative staff does not answer the phone and may take days to reply to your voice mail. The nurses are very professional, though one has a listening problem caused most likely by constantly talking over Patient. The doctors are excellent. The waiting room is always a mess.
I think they do a great job. They always respond to my phone calls and email inquiries and the Dr always spends time with me and does a great job. It's true they don't offer everything, but I find it a little absurd to think they could or should. You're receiving free health care, and the VA tries their best with limited funds and resources. I am a service connected post 9-11 veteran who did the hardest of jobs and was injured doing so, and have gone to the VA since I was 23, I had no other choice as my issues were great enough no other insurance was an option. All of my friends and acquaintances who were truly hurt in the line of duty seldom have issues or complaints.
