Too bad, I like supporting locally businesses, but not if they treat customers like that. Found what I needed on amazon for the same price and it arrives tomorrow.

Awesome we showed up a few mins past closing time and they welcomed and helped us like they were opening. I felt so bad as I know people want to go home. We are visiting area and brought bikes but forgot our bike locks. Helped out taking time to show us to aisle where locks were and cashier so friendly. Nobody rushed us out, and they were so pleasant. Awesome customer service.
Despite the limited selection of certain things (that is usually on hand at HD), I have gone to Strunk Ace Hardware in the past for their customer service. I was disappointed on my last (and perhaps final) trip there though, when I asked for a self closing shower valve, the only one left was on display. They said it may he a week before more arrive, so I asked if I could just buy the floor display model. The plumbing section attendant said no, I could wait until more come in next week. I was on a time line for this project so I appealed to him again, saying this one would be fine, didn't really care about the wear it received, he then gave me a rather loud and firm sounding "NO" and turned around and walked away, leaving me and the other gentleman that was helping me (who was nice but didn't know plumbing). Rather put off by this fella, I set down the other items I was purchasing and left the store immediately. Didn't really get a friendly vibe from the front cashier either.
