Great location, excellent prices, helpful staff. This is a place you will only enjoy if you do not have an attitude, do not believe you are the only one, and can take in the beauty of the place.
We visit key west often, we usually stay at the fly navy building....we don't own a camper or an RV and would love to camp in the fall and winter months...but the very few tent sites are directly against a road, or in a swampy area near a mangrove... it is a real shame that they do not offer a nice tent camping area with at least water and electricity hookup for tent campers. I feel,discriminated against. We earned the right to equal use of the facility but are being disenfranchised because we can't afford a RV...
The staff are less than friendly in some situations, the basic answer is "that's the policy, no exceptions." The camp hosts mostly consist of bitter people who don't enjoy being around younger people with kids and express it openly. Though it may not be directly the campgrounds fault (maybe Jacksonville will increase the budget) it would seem that they put zero money into upgrading this facility. With the growing number of people who winter down in the keys you would think they would add a ton more hookup sites instead of the insane rotational season they instill now. Prices are really good. This has the potential of being a great facility. Just needs a tune up.

Stayed nearly 2 weeks in my popup camper. Was a fantastic time. The showers and restrooms were close to our site. The water was within rock throwing distance.
